A few thoughts on Meta’s Threads for those interested…
- News about the rapidly growing user base is primarily organic growth not new users (existing Instagram users signing-up for the service).
- Meta’s social media products are troubled with impersonators, scammers and hackers. Case in point: just last and this month I have encountered it 5 times within my Facebook network.
- Meta’s social media products are constantly being regulated by the EU – Threads is not yet available in the EU due to very justifiable regulatory concerns.
- 𝕏 has a cleaner and more intuitive user interface.
- 𝕏 is an excellent microblogging service and ideal for sharing bite-sized thoughts, images and videos with likeminded people.
- 𝕏 has less ads and feels less intrusive, particularly since I subscribe to Premium.
- Lastly, Elon Musk seems more capable overall at making something successful e.g. PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX etc.
You can do everything on 𝕏 that you can on Meta products plus more. Despite the bad press that 𝕏 gets it is still a great and fulfilling experience for social media. Also, its recent AI capabilities with Grok are worth paying the subscription fee for. If you are not on 𝕏 you are missing out!
So where should you invest social media future in? My bet is on 𝕏. Meta’s social media products have a large user base but when it comes to a microblogging service with a bright future 𝕏 is my go-to!
